About the Powell-Peralta Caballero Original Dragon Artwork;
Steve Caballero began riding for Powell-Peralta in 1979 at the age of 14 upon his success in the Californian "Gold Cup Series" skate competitions. One of the original "Class of '79" in the newly formed "Bones Brigade" skate team Stacy Peralta and George Powell established, Steve quickly became one of their top skaters. 
In 1980 Steve turned professional, the time in which Powell-Peralta released Steve Caballero's first pro-signature board. He was initially offered a simple propeller/skull nose-art graphic but rejected it. Steve submitted some sketches of his own, one of which was a crouching dragon, which was the art direction that followed. Artist V.C. Johnson reworked the design a couple times before laying down the final ink. The deck was first released in December 1980 and the graphic was so well received it wasn't replaced until 1986.
